BlackJack hacked to run Windows Mobile 6.1

By admin • Mar 27th, 2008 • Category: Devices, Samsung, Windows Mobile
BlackJack hacked to run Windows Mobile 6.1 It's not just the official announcement Windows Mobile smartphone owners will have to wait in order to upgrade to the latest version (6.1) of Microsoft's mobile OS — it's also the handset makers that need to get their things together and release the new firmware. Moreover, no one guarantees they'll release WinMo upgrades for all their devices. Take the Samsung BlackJack for example. It's everything but a new device and the Korean giant has a successor in place (BlackJack II) which is already available. They may opt out of any software upgrade for their older model. I'm not saying that will ... (Full Article)

Gartner: Apple places 10 million iPhone unit order - Apple preparing for 3G iPhone There's another round of hyped-up buzz starting to build surrounding the imminent launch of the next-generation iPhone. The first hardware revision of the Apple iPhone will hit the US market with a 3G radio in tow, among other features - which should appease the masses that have lamented the iPhone's lack of true high-speed data capabilities (although, the iPhone's EDGE data seems to compete with 3G connections due to processing and browser efficiency advantages). We're dying to get our hands on a 3G iPhone, and the latest report indicates that Apple is indeed ramping up production of the second-gen iPhone. Gartner ... (Full Article)

LG-SH240 Slider Cell Phone Mimics Human Skin

LG-SH240 Slider Cell Phone Mimics Human Skin Are you lonesome tonight... Do you miss me tonight... LG has taken Korean weirdness to a whole new level with the creation of the LG-SH240 cell phone. The main selling point of this handset is that the keypad mimics the feel of real human skin. I understand that there is a certain appeal to ditching the cold confines of metal and plastic, but mimicking human skin? That's got to be pretty creepy. Beyond the skin-like silicon texture on the keypad, the LG-SH240 is pretty tame by Korean standards, getting equipped with a 2 megapixel camera and video calling capabilities. It's not a ... Samsung Gets Haptic With Touchscreen Cell Phones (Video)

By admin • Mar 26th, 2008 • Category: Devices, Samsung, Video
Samsung Gets Haptic With Touchscreen Cell Phones (Video) Part of the reason why some people are hesitant to jump into the touchscreen arena is that the on-screen controls do not provide any sort of tactile feedback. It can sometimes be hard to figure out if you've actually pressed that virtual button or not. Samsung is correcting this problem with the introduction of the SCH-W420 and SPH-W4200 AnyCall haptic touchscreen phones. Taking on a form factor similar to the LG Prada, Samsung Armani, and the Apple iPhone, the new AnyCall Haptic phone line will feature a large 3.2-inch widescreen that just so happens to be a touchscreen with haptic feedback. ... LG KF300 Hits Up Lower End of Fashion Phone Market

By admin • Mar 26th, 2008 • Category: Devices, LG
LG KF300 Hits Up Lower End of Fashion Phone Market When I hear the term fashion phone, I think about those overpriced handsets that have been encrusted with Swarovski crystals and dipped in white gold. Such is not the case with this phone, because LG is targeting the lower end of the fashion-conscious market. The LG KF300 is basically the world market version of the LG Wine, which was released in Korea way back in May 2007. Talk about hoarding the goods for themselves! Featuring a cool (textured?) top lid and a RAZR-thin profile, the LG KF300 will come with a tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio with no 3G connectivity to speak of. ... (Full Article)

Guinness World Record: modu is the world’s lightest mobile phone

Guinness World Record: modu is the world's lightest mobile phone In a PR stunt obviously targeted to get some media attention, modu which is also known as the phone with many coats, informed us they are now officially the world's lightest phone. Guinness World Records' crew were there to prove the claim. This doesn't come as a surprise considering that the bare naked device weighs mere 40.1 grams (1.41 oz) and has dimensions of 72.1×37.6×7.8 mm (2.8×1.4×0.3 inches). Now if you add some modu jackets on top of that, the device will naturally get bulkier, but that's only until you place it in one of the modu mates, which is how ... (Full Article)
